Vietnam Grants Visa Exemptions to Citizens of 12 Countries to Boost Tourism

Under a new resolution aimed at stimulating tourism, Vietnam will grant visa exemptions to citizens of Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Switzerland.

From August 15, 2025, until August 14, 2028, eligible visitors from these countries may enter Vietnam without a visa for stays of up to 45 days, regardless of passport type, as long as they meet entry requirements. This will replace the current exemption for citizens of Poland, the Czech Republic and Switzerland under the 2025 program.

On August 8, the Government also introduced temporary visa exemptions for select foreign nationals in special categories, including high-ranking Party and State guests, scholars, scientists, professors, chief engineers, top digital technology experts, major investors, senior executives, and influential cultural, sports and tourism figures.

The policy is part of Vietnam’s strategy to attract top talent, high-quality human resources, innovative entrepreneurs and leading scientists in key sectors such as semiconductors and digital technology, while also drawing global cultural and sports icons to strengthen the country’s competitiveness.
