Mistakes in your personal details
- Name order or spelling that doesn’t match the passport. Copy your name exactly as it appears in the machine-readable lines at the bottom of the photo page, including middle names.
- A typo in the passport number. The letter O and the number 0 are the classic mix-up.
- The wrong date of birth or nationality, often picked by mistake from a long drop-down list.
- An email address with a typo, so the approval never reaches you.
Mistakes with your trip details
- An entry date that is too late. You cannot enter Vietnam before the start date on your e-Visa, so choose your arrival day or a day earlier.
- The wrong entry point. Your e-Visa names the airport, land border or seaport where you arrive, so pick the place you actually enter, not your final destination.
- Single entry when you need multiple. If you will leave Vietnam and come back, for example to Cambodia, a single-entry visa ends when you leave.
- A passport that expires too soon. It must be valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date.
Mistakes with your photo and passport scan
Photos are the most common reason an application is sent back. Use a recent, front-facing photo on a plain white background, with no glasses, hat or heavy shadows. For the passport page, the whole page must be visible, including both lines of code at the bottom, with no glare from a flash or a phone light.
Mistakes with timing and websites
Applying a few days before you fly, especially near weekends or Vietnamese public holidays, leaves no room to fix a problem. Apply at least two weeks ahead if you can. And check that you are on a genuine website before you pay: look for a real company name, an address and clear prices.
Already short on time? A real person can check your details before filing, and urgent processing can still get your e-Visa to you within days, or even within 60 minutes on working days.
