Urgent visa question
Can I get a Vietnam visa on a public holiday or during Tết?
Checked by Joey Visa Vietnam Team · October 2026
Short answer
Usually yes, through the emergency service, with results at 18:00 Vietnam time — but message the team first. Government processing can pause during Vietnamese public holidays, especially the Lunar New Year (Tết).
The details
- Tết 2027 is Saturday 6 February 2027; the official holiday runs from 4 to 10 February 2027.
- If you travel around Tết, apply at least two weeks before the holiday starts.
- During the holiday itself, availability depends on the immigration schedule.
- Other public holidays (30 April, 1 May, 2 September) can also slow processing.
