Single or multiple entry: how to choose
- Single entry: you enter Vietnam once and leave at the end of your trip.
- Multiple entry: you leave and come back, for example Hanoi to Luang Prabang and back, or Ho Chi Minh City to Siem Reap and back.
- Flying home via Bangkok or Singapore without re-entering Vietnam? Single entry is enough.
What it costs
The government fee is US$25 for single entry and US$50 for multiple entry. With a standard agency service the totals start from US$45 and US$70 per person. Choosing multiple entry from the start is far cheaper than buying a second visa later.
Land borders and entry points
Your e-Visa names the entry point you choose on the form. If you will come back over land, for example by bus from Phnom Penh to Moc Bai, check that the border gate accepts e-Visas and tell your agency where you plan to re-enter. Visa on arrival only works at international airports, never at land borders.
Visas for your neighbouring countries
Cambodia, Laos and Thailand have their own entry rules, which depend on your nationality. Check them separately before you go: a Vietnam e-Visa does not cover any neighbouring country.
